Position Summary

This high growth leadership position in Ecosave’ s distributed generation business offers outstanding opportunities to individuals seeking an exciting work environment in one of the most important industries of our time. You must be technically competent to grow a team of engineers and analysts to develop solar and battery storage (ESS) opportunities. As well as knowledgeable on the income streams and incentives available for ESS to make them financially feasable. A well-rounded team leader who can not only negotiate with utilities and secure accurate subcontractor pricing but also recruit, train and manage a staff of DG development resources as we grow. From day one you must be ready to roll up your sleeves to develop and execute primarily behind the meter solar and ESS projects with the support of an existing cross-departmental team.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the development and due diligence of C&I scale distributed generation projects.
   Primary focus is on solar and battery storage (ESS), with plans to expand into other areas based on
   evolving market conditions and demand, including but not limited to, wind power and Microgrids.
• Assemble and lead a team of professionals in various company functional areas during the project
   development and assist the construction project management team.
• Responsible for the development of DG projects, focusing on solar and ESS, from start to finish
     – site energy profile analysis, system sizing and selection, energy and economic modelling, risk
         analysis, and business case/proposal generation.
• Complete due diligence of opportunities including site visits, site analysis, and
    interconnection screening.
• Drive innovations to continue to be the industry leader in cost competitiveness.
• Determine project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customer’s system
   design and installation requirements.
• Assist Business Development Manager with prospect client relationship development, providing
   technical perspective and insights.

• Initiation and management of all stakeholder relationships including subcontractors, permitting
   agencies, local utilities, regulatory authorities and incentive programs.
• Assist construction department to deliver DG projects to completion.
• Work with the Project Finance team to ensure project-specific financial assessments capture all
   corresponding development, permitting and operational cost assumptions to support accurate
   financial modelling.
• Identify value-added and profitability influencers through development, regulatory and
   permitting analysis to improve project bankability.
• As business grows, identify skills gaps and recruit, train and manage engineering and operations
   team to fill those gaps.
• Stay current on regulatory/legislative trends and changes as well as competitor and market
   analyses.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Skills:

  • Demonstrated achievement in developing projects from pre-development activities
    through advanced stage development and operations.
    • Adaptable and rapid learning individual who can expand their skill set from solar and ESS
    development into other DG technologies.
    • Ability to build, analyze and interpret complex energy modelling.
    • MS Office suite – Excel, Word, Outlook.
    • Intermediate-Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a requirement of this role.
    • Must be motivated, self-starter, capable of setting and managing multiple key
    priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a 4-year bachelor’s degree in electrical or related Engineering discipline.

Experience:

       • Understanding of and passion for renewable energy systems.
       • Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience in relevant industries (energy, facilities).
       • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in distributed energy environment.
       • Preferred specific knowledge of and experience in North-east USA solar markets.
       • Preferred experience working as/for an EPC.
