Position Summary
The Construction Project Engineer (CPE) works with our Efficiency Engineering and PM team to deliver proposed energy and water conservation measures. The CPE aids the team greatly with ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, in difficult retrofit applications and constrained spaces. Project documentation, accurate reporting, (sub)contract administration and process KPI are an integral part of the job duties. Ideal candidates possess a combination of engineering knowledge, construction practices, good workmanship experience, creative solutions, and thorough and comprehensive project management abilities.
Responsibilities
- Document and maintain accurate project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Support engineering team with effectively communicating challenges on-site/in the field and assuring field changes made are appropriately documented.
- Support effective transfer of knowledge and information from the engineering team to the project team and where necessary, manage design and development of single line, process flow charts or detailed CAD drawings.
- Be accountable for the installation of all energy conservation measures, solutions, associated incentives, grants, and tax deductions/credits, as assigned.
- Together with the support of the project manager, manage selected subcontractors and suppliers to source, validate, and deliver energy and water savings while meeting project schedules.
- Communicate scientific and technical information to clients and/or internal audiences through oral briefings, written documents, and formal meetings.
- Oversee and maintain project sites to ensure the health and safety of all involved.
- With support from the engineering team, commission all energy efficiency solutions
- Support the engineering team to develop efficiency solutions and sales proposals, including the technical approach, budgets, and schedules.
- Provide technical leadership.
- Grow existing relationships with clients.
- Record and analyze necessary performance data to validate the predicted savings per IPMVP standards, assist in developing the M&V Report

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Qualifications
- Holds at least a B.S. 4-year degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering or equivalent.
- Hold one or more technology and industry certifications (CEM, CEA, CMVP, LEED/AP etc.)
- PMP certification preferred.
- Construction management certification preferred.
- Trade license experience in HVAC, Controls or similar building technologies preferred.
Experience
- Project management across a variety of project and client types
- Demonstrated experience in delivering energy upgrade projects and performance contracts.
- Technical experience with energy efficiency technologies
- SAP or other related accounting software
- Procore or other related construction management software
- Permitting and project closeout
- Advanced computer skills with strong preference for candidates with ability to use: Procore, Salesforce, SAP and other industry standard application for scheduling and estimating

- Building services knowledge such as mechanical & HVAC, Building Automation System, electrical & lighting
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and HVAC technologies and solutions
- Advanced knowledge of ASHRAE standards, energy modelling/best practice/codes (IESNA, NEC, IBC etc.)
- Ability to travel and perform overnight and after hours work on occasion when needed.
- Knowledge of building codes
