Position Summary

We seek a highly driven and technically skilled Development Engineer to lead the development of multiple complex Energy as a Service (ESA) projects. This individual will serve as a critical link between Sales, Sales Administration, and Engineering, ensuring that each project meets client goals—both technical and financial—while maintaining schedule discipline and supporting the company’s booking objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of multiple ESA projects from concept through booking, ensuring alignment with client financial metrics and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Sales Administration to shape and refine client scopes and success criteria.
  • Oversee a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts, including specialists in:

– Wastewater treatment and process optimization

– Power factor correction and electrical efficiency

– Building systems (HVAC, envelope, and automation)

– PLC/SCADA integration and industrial process control

  • Translate client goals into actionable engineering strategies, conceptual designs, and scope packages.
  • Provide strong project governance and milestone tracking to ensure engineering deliverables are on time and within budget.
  • Continuously improve development processes and tools to accelerate turnaround time and maintain technical excellence.
  • Interface with internal leadership, clients, and external partners to drive technical clarity and support decision-making.
  • Support financial modeling by defining performance assumptions, savings estimates, and capital requirements.
  • Ensure engineering documentation meets quality standards required for contracting, permitting, and implementation.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, or related field); MBA and/or PE license preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in energy systems, industrial or utility engineering, or related technical development.
  • Proven track record managing cross-functional technical teams across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Deep understanding of ESA/ESCO models and experience developing client-aligned technical scopes.
  • Strong familiarity with energy systems including wastewater, automation, controls, HVAC, and power quality.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with strategic business thinking.
