Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Project Finance to lead underwriting, pricing, and financial oversight of long-term project contracts. This role is critical to ensuring disciplined investment decisions, strong financial performance, and effective lender compliance across a diverse portfolio of projects serving public and private sector clients.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in project finance—preferably within construction, infrastructure, or energy—and thrives in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Underwriting & Deal Execution

  • Lead underwriting of long-term contracts (typically 10–15 years) across municipal, educational, healthcare, and commercial/industrial sectors
  • Evaluate project risks, cash flows, and contractual structures to support investment decisions
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to assess project viability

Pricing & Financial Performance

  • Own deal pricing to ensure alignment with company financial targets
  • Ensure all transactions meet or exceed required IRR and gross margin thresholds
  • Partner with Sales to structure commercially competitive yet financially disciplined proposals

Portfolio Oversight & Compliance

  • Oversee reporting requirements and maintain compliance with lenders and financing agreements
  • Manage ongoing portfolio performance tracking and covenant monitoring
  • Support refinancing, amendments, and lender communications as needed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the CFO on capital strategy, financing structures, and portfolio performance
  • Partner with Sales and Engineering teams to align technical solutions with financial outcomes
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making

Governance & Leadership

  • Lead the internal Underwriting Committee, presenting deals and recommendations
  • Collaborate regularly with executive leadership, including the CEO, CFO, and Chief Legal Counsel
  • Occasionally interface with Private Equity sponsors, supporting diligence and portfolio updates

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of relevant experience in project finance, structured finance, or infrastructure investing
  • Strong background in construction, energy, or infrastructure projects preferred
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting long-term contracts and complex financial structures
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills (required)
  • Deep understanding of project finance concepts, including IRR, cash flow modelling, and risk assessment
  • Experience working with lenders and managing financing compliance obligations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior executives and stakeholders

Reporting Structure
